Preheat oven to 375°F.
Lightly grease a 9 x 5” loaf pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray and line with parchment for easy removal.
In a large bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Add cheese and chives if using and toss to combine.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the beer and honey and stir until just combined. Don’t overmix.
Spoon batter into the prepared loaf pan and gently smooth the top.
Drizzle melted butter over the top.
Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes or until the top is a deep, golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Remove the bread from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes before turning out of the pan.
Allow it to cool for an additional 10 minutes on a wire cooling rack before slicing.
